As the old saying goes, charity starts at home, or, for our clients before they even step in their new house because…. from today until the 31st of December the Stephanie Murray Mortgage team will be donating $250 from every drawn down mortgage, in Taranaki, to support the fantastic work by the Roderique Hope Trust.
The Roderique Hope Trust
The trust was established in 2016 by Michelle Ramage, a local whānau support worker. Its aim is to help assist the growing number of homeless families in Taranaki. The amazing team at the Roderique Hope Trust work closely with other local family support services to give displaced families a roof over their head in one of their five furnished houses for up to 12 weeks. However, their hard work doesn't stop there. While families are finding their feet in one of the Roderique Hope Trust homes, Michelle and her team work hard to find a long term housing solution through Housing New Zealand or a private rental providing the families with a place to call their own.
Once the families are in their own home, The Roderique Hope Trust continues to provide a helping hand by assisting the family in engaging with support services, budgeting and counselling. This allows the families to build financial stability, a future plan, gain further education and employment.
"Roderique Hope Emergency Housing Trust is incredibly grateful for the on going phenomenal support of Stephanie and the team at Stephanie Murray Mortgages. Over the past 4 years, Stephanie Murray Mortgages has generously donated a whopping $70,000 to Roderique Hope Trust through the SMM fundraising events. This support goes directly to assist families and to meet their immediate needs and the needs of their children when they reside in emergency housing." Michelle Ramage, Chairperson.
To date, the trust has provided accommodation for 65 families which includes over 170 children. The Stephanie Murray team are incredibly proud of what the trust has achieved so far and hope that our continued support will help in some way, to help the trust continue their work.
Along with our own donations, we would encourage you to make your own contribution to the fund. Link to fund page coming soon.
